To Whom does Your Heart Belong?

For blog

The scriptures that you are about to read are regarding Paul’s concerns for the Corinthians Church. Starting in 2 Corinthians, chapter 12, verse 11, Paul feels as if he is being made a fool of, because he has shown the nature of a true Apostle by demonstrating signs, wonders, and miracles to the Corinthians, yet he is having to visit them for a third time. Not for their possessions, but for them, as a being. I will be quoting this scripture from NIV, but also adding words from the Amplified version, because I love both translations.

“Have you been thinking all along that we have been [merely] defending ourselves to you? We have been speaking in the sight of God as those [as one] in Christ; and everything we do, dear friends, is for your strengthening [spiritually]. For I am afraid that when I come I may not find you as I want you to be, and you may not find me as you want me to be. I fear that there may be discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, slander, gossip, arrogance, and disorder. I am afraid that when I come again my God will humble me before you, and I will be grieved over many who have sinned earlier and have not repented of the impurity, sexual immortality, and debauchery in which they have indulged.”

2 Corinthians 12:19-21

The first question I would like to ask is:

Where will God find you?

Ponder on that.

Now, I’d like to highlight and define a few words.

  • Discord: disagreement between people; lack of harmony.
  • Selfish Ambition: Devoted to or only caring for oneself; concerned primarily with one’s own interest, benefits, welfare, etc., regardless of others.
  • Slander: making false and/or damaging statements about someone, or their reputation.

Do any of these words resonate with you? Your life? They sure do with me. Let me go ahead and tell you that I am in distress while typing this! LOL I am convictedddd, chile, do you hear me?! In no way is this not something that I need! As a matter of fact, I needed it so much that God wouldn’t even allow me to breeze pass this scripture today, as if I had not read it. He had me highlight it in different translations, and He showed me why the scripture was so important in this season. We are currently being quarantined all over the world, due to the COVID-19 virus. God’s question to me was, what are you doing with your time? Yes, you are still having to go to work, but outside of that, your usual self pleasures have come to an end. What kind of decisions are you making? In what ways are you disciplining yourself? In what condition is your heart, and what are you doing about it? What scriptures are you allowing to COME TO LIFE in your walk with me? Are you going to continue to pray and seek me only when you FEEL like it? How are the relationships in your life holding up? Friends. Family. Is there anything you could do to mend some things? Is there anyone who you need to forgive or ask for THEIR forgiveness?! Whew! Do not take this down time lightly, my child. I know you have seen it all over the internet, “Get right with God!” and you think to yourself “Same old cliche.” “I am right with God.” but what are you REALLY doing to strengthen your relationship with me?

Whew! God is speaking y’all! I believe that this season is all about our heart posture. I asked earlier, where will God find you? No, I don’t think this scripture necessarily means every second of your life should be spent speaking in deep tongues with God, but I do believe that now is the time for prayer & repentance. Now is the time to get in the habit of spending time with God, so that He can change our decision making from binge watching Netflix, to basking in His Lovely presence. I’ve said all this to say, find ONE thing in your relationship with God to be dedicated to, & consistent with, & watch how He makes you new. Don’t focus on what you need to stop doing, or what keeps tripping you up, just focus on Him. In this season, and all those to come! I hope and pray that this blesses and motivates you! In no way is this meant to scare or condemn you. We ALL struggle with something we don’t talk about, and shouldn’t be shamed for it! Take it to God. I love you all so much, and I pray that this message finds you well in this chaotic time of life.

  1. Whew!!!! Eye opener for me and convicted me also! Although I have found myself spending more time with Him while at work but not at home during my down time! I ask myself what time is more important? And the answer is only one thing BOTH. Thank you for sharing my darling daughter! As always you poured wisdom into me and brought me a spiritual awaking! I love you! Keep doing the work of the Lord and mending brokenness! ♥️😘
